Improve your supervisory skills and get recognition for your knowledge, experience and commitment to professionalism by earning the Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) certification. Recognized worldwide, the CHS certification is the highest acknowledgement of professionalism for supervisors in the hospitality industry. The CHS exam assesses for the following competencies: Basics of the Supervisor Role Leadership Time Management Effective Communication Handling Problems and Conflict Conducting Orientation and Training Motivation and Team Building Staffing and Scheduling Improving Employee Performance Prerequisites Qualifying Positions Qualifying supervisor who supervises two or more individuals; has job duties that are at least 20% supervisory and that include tasks such as scheduling, training, interviewing, discipline, inspecting and conducting performance reviews; makes decisions and judgment calls while performing daily duties; and has input on hiring and firing decisions in a department Time in Position Three months: Supervisor, Manager, Department Head or Executive Certification eliminates time requirement Degree from an accredited academic institution eliminates three months of time requirement Preparation Candidates may choose to complete the Supervisory Skill Builders series in preparation for the CHS Exam.
