A historical and formal study of the poetry of the early seventeenth century, including the works of Donne, Jonson, Herbert, Vaughn, Herrick, Marvell, Wroth, Lanyer, and Philips. The course will emphasize the close reading of poems.

Survey of the art and architecture of the Eighteenth Century.

Study of literature from the period, including attention to historical, intellectual, and social backgrounds while focusing on the literary forms and conventions characteristic of the era.

Eighteenth-Century British novel.

This course is a study of 18th century two-, three-, and four-voice counterpoint. Offered alternate years, pending enrollment.
