In-depth analysis of information systems and controls topics with a focus on information integrity, data management, and SOC reporting. Topics include planning and performing an SOC examination, SOC reporting, information systems and data management, regulations, standards, and frameworks, security, confidentiality and privacy, and incident response. Will not satisfy elective course requirement in accounting degree program.

This course covers the subject matter of information systems such as feasibility study, systems design and implementation. Modern accounting information systems are computer-based; hence, more emphasis is placed on computer based systems and processes that impact the organization. It creates a framework for accounting information systems by combining knowledge about business as it relates to information systems, information technology, and accounting.

Studies the principles, concepts and tools used in the analysis, design, implementation and integration of accounting systems, internal controls systems and accounting procedures. Key elements of system analysis, business systems design, accounting software selection, and the acquisition and implementation of systems are studied. Techniques and systems for electronic control systems, electronic data interchange, and electronic funds transfer and web commerce are explored.

First in a two-course sequence to introduce accounting information systems, emphasizing the recording and processing of transactions, analyzing financial and other information, and the creation / visualization of accounting information to support decision making. Excel and accounting software are extensively used to illustrate the concepts and processes covered in this course.

Second in a two-course sequence to introduce accounting information systems, emphasizing emerging IS/IT and their impact on businesses, enterprise resource planning, documentation, data analytics, and information security. Excel and SAP are extensively used to solve accounting problems and illustrate the concepts covered in the course.

This advanced-level course takes up the accounting, tax, and control problems and procedures arising from the flow of goods, services, money, and investments across national frontiers.

Introductory accounting course for non-business majors. Describes the role of accounting as an information system essential for the operation of today’s organizations. Focus is on (1) how data is captured and processed to provide information for decision-making, and (2) how the information provided can be used for decision-making.

A practical working experience in the form of a co-op and/or internship in the field of Accounting to gain professional knowledge and skills. A student must complete ACC 101 and ACC 304 before registering for this course. Accounting faculty/academic advisors need to approve students' internship/co-op sponsors.
