History and scope of toxicology as it applies to mammals; where possible, marine species will be used for examples and assigned papers.

Toxicology is the science of poisons and their antidotes. Almost any substance has the ability to cause noxious effects on living beings. The Toxicology and Poisons course is designed to introduce the Doctor of Pharmacy student to the role of the pharmacist in the management of poisonous substances and intentional and unintentional drug overdoses. Admission into the Doctor of Pharmacy program or permission of the Associate Dean for Academic Program.

In this course, students will learn the basic principles of hazardous materials management. The course will be suitable for students with limited scientific background knowledge in chemistry and physics. Students will learn how to classify toxic, radioactive, and hazardous materials and evaluate the dangers associated with them. Students will study current industry practices and learn how to manage hazardous materials in a safe, legal, and economical manner.

Review of techniques used in the analysis of hairs, fibers, and minute items of evidence related to criminal matters.

Student engage in the review of the classifications and characteristics of trace examination of physical evidence. A wide variety of chromatographic, spectroscopic, polarized light microscope, digital microscope, comparison microscope, scanning transform infrared spectrometer, pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, glass, paint, gun shot residue (GSR), ink, and explosives are covered. This course introduces students to techniques and mechanics in a variety of track and field activities. Such activities as running/sprinting, jumping, throwing, and hurdling and to the development of speed, power, and endurance.

The student will gain proficiency in fundamental skills in gymnastics and track associated with judging and spotting. Enrollment limited to Kinesiology majors

This course is an introductory course that emphasizes learning basic skills, knowledge, rules and strategy of track/field/weightlifting.
