Examination of the interrelated nature of transportation, land use and urban design; familiarization with the role of transportation in contemporary society; understanding the interrelationships between transportation and urban form at both the regional and community levels.

Transportation Data Science introduces students to the processing, analysis, and interpretation of large-scale transportation-related data. The course develops programming proficiency in Python and provides an overview of key algorithms and machine learning methods used in transportation research and practice. Students apply data-driven techniques to real transportation datasets to support analysis, modeling, and decision-making.

Individual senior design project requiring the development of plans for a roadway over a large land segment: horizontal and vertical curves in accord with State and AASHTO standards; topographic terrain features; historical preservation area; minimum elevation; intersection design; earthwork balance.

This course is a study of the United States transportation system with a specific emphasis on freight transportation modes common to distribution logistics. Topics include common modes of freight transportation, transportation mode characteristics, cost, operational factors, transportation regulation, and planning.

This is an advanced level course with emphasis on transportation projects. Students will create construction drawings based on concepts and principles learned in previous courses. Students will implement local jurisdiction design criteria while utilizing industry standard software including Microstation, Geopak and others.

Introduction to transportation engineering practice with emphasis on highway facility design, traffic operations, and life-cycle costing.
