Latin American Literatures until 1900
University of Alabama
This course covers important works from Hispanic-American literature from the colonial period to around 1900. Three units cover the colonial period, the independence period (nineteenth century), and the fin de siglo (turn of the twentieth century). Class meetings will include a combination of lecture, practice activities, games, and discussion. Students will develop reading comprehension and communication skills, particularly regarding academic writing and critical thinking.
