A one-semester intensive intermediate course for students who have successfully completed LG 113 (Accelerated Introductory French- Honors), or the equivalent. This course covers material taught in LG 211 and 212. Usually taught in the Spring semester. By permission of instructor.

Accelerated intermediate course that compresses essential elements of FREN 201 and FREN 202 into one semester. Designed to develop cross-cultural understanding and proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding, it includes three class meetings and two laboratory sessions each week. Successful completion of this sequence fulfills the general education language requirement.

This course satisfies the general education requirement and prepares students to take 300-level French classes the following semester.

An intensive course equivalent to the intermediate year of German, and which can be completed in a single semester.

Intermediate German builds on skills learned in the introductory sequence (LG 151-152). In this course, students will continue to develop their faculties in listening comprehension, oral proficiency, grammatical accuracy, written ability, and cultural knowledge. Special emphasis will be placed on adding depth to reading comprehension and improving students? oral competencies.

A one-semester intensive first-year course for highly motivated students. This course covers the material taught in LG 151 and LG 152 and satisfies the Arts and Sciences Foreign Language requirement. By permission of instructor. Core Course.

A one-semester intensive first-year course for highly motivated students with prior instruction in a foreign language (either high school or college level) with a B average or better. This course covers material taught in LG 171 and 172 and satisfies the Arts and Sciences foreign language requirement. By permission of the instructor. Usually taught in the Spring semester. Fees.

Mastery of high-speed dictation including read-back, machine practice, and transcription. To exit this course, students must write on a stenographic machine with the minimum speed stated in the syllabus and pass the appropriate assessments with 95% accuracy. This course may be repeated multiple times until machine shorthand standards are met.

This course presents networks and communications concepts in an accelerated manner. Coverage includes signaling concepts, communications devices, switching, network architectures and protocols, OSI reference model, network management and planning. This course does not count towards a graduate degree in CIS.
