Scene analysis and performance, improvisation techniques, audition techniques, and the preparation and presentation of monologues.

Exploration and further training within the basic principles and tools of acting, including an emphasis on critical analysis of one self and others. The tools include ensemble performing, character and script analysis, and basic theater terminology. This will continue the exploration of the development of the actor’s instrument: voice, body and imagination. Performance rehearsal lab participation is required for all students registered for this course.

An analytical approach to acting with emphasis on techniques of characterization, the actor as an integral member of an ensemble effort. Theories of acting and of acting encouraged.

Acting II is a Stanislavsky-based class which will further the growth of skills learned in Acting I, as it applies to more complex characterization. Class work will include sensory exercises, relaxation, concentration, imagination, improvisation, character analysis, and scene work.

Continuation of Acting I. Emphasis on scene and monologue study, script analysis. Thirty-hour production requirement.

A continuation of Acting I, this course emphasizes character development and analysis of classic American texts and introduces the work of Konstantin Stanislavski.

Course is designed to teach theory and techniques in character development and analysis, as used in Realistic theatre, through the use of scene study.

Continues to explore basic acting techniques and approaches including scene study, improvisation, and intermediate script analysis. It includes practical application through classroom performance.
