A study of the process of creating the dramatic character from text to performance with emphasis on scene study and audition techniques. Technical lab hours required.

, LST. 2. Pr. THEA 2120. Exploration of internal and external acting theory and techniques in modern and classical scene study. Theatre majors who do not earn a grade of "C" or higher must repeat this course.

Acting III is an in-depth exploration of advanced concepts of acting focusing on script analysis, character development, period styles, dialects, freedom of movement, and a professional work ethic. Students will also explore ways to find opportunities in film, television, major American markets, and graduate schools. In addition, emphasis will be placed on student's ability to instruct and coach other actors.

Character study, script interpretation, role preparation, and scene work.

An analytical approach to acting with emphasis on the study and practice of techniques modern realists. Participation in a college theatre production is encouraged.

This class explores non-realist acting techniques, as a way to expand understanding of different performance and period styles. Students will work in historical periods from the Italian and Elizabethan renaissances and more contemporary styles.

Thorough exploration of character study, script analysis, and scene work for the actor. Offered in alternate years. This course is repeatable up-to 6 credit hours.

Majors- only advanced acting course. An in depth study of various techniques used to explore an acting scene in performance: advanced personalization, intense experiential analysis of emotional and intellectual transitions in a text, and specific physical and musical improvisations, which combine to form the basis of a “Simulated Experience” of the character.

This course expands on the methods of modern acting in order to develop human characters able to support realistic dramas for both stage and screen.
