This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of substantive tort law. Topics include: concepts of intentional torts, negligence and product liability; causation and liability concepts; damages and defenses; and special tort actions and immunities.

This course presents fundamental concepts of tort law with emphasis on the paralegal’s role. Topics include intentional torts, negligence, and strict liability.

The law of private wrongs: negligence theory, duty, breach of duty, proximate cause, damages and defenses. Examination of legal and medical malpractice. Discussion of intentional torts.

Participants in this course will agree to speak only German for a specified amount of time, from 48 hours to three weeks. Students are required to participate in organized events and activities including films, tasks such as cooking or clean-up, discussion, and games, all facilitating student communication in German. Some quiet study and reading periods will allow consolidation of vocabulary gains and help relieve stress, a natural and necessary component of total immersion.

Training and education in compounding total parenteral nutrition. Students will have didactic coursework and hands-on training in the use of Baxa multi-station TPN base compounder and additive automix compounder. Students will prepare 2:1 and 3:1 TPNs as well as manual draws. Students will learn about the special considerations of TPN therapy, calculations, etc.

This course will provide students with the knowledge to do preventive maintenance on automation systems. Also assess tooling, inspect and perform preventive maintenance on various tools. This course provides both classroom and performance based hands on training to inform personnel on preventive maintenance.
