A seminar and practice capstone course that provides an integrative experience applying all dimensions of the professional nurse in the care of diverse patient populations across a variety of healthcare settings. All major concepts of the nursing program are addressed. Leadership and the management of multiple patients are emphasized. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the clinical setting to facilitate an effective transition from student to registered professional nurse.

This course will prepare the registered nurse for transition into baccalaureate nursing practice by exploring concepts, values, and behaviors necessary for professional nursing practice in today's complex healthcare environment. Emphasis is placed on nursing theory/philosophy, current trends of professional nursing practice, introduction to caring science, and the evolving role and scope of the professional nurse. Building on previous knowledge and experience in the practical nursing role, this course will prepare Licensed Practicum Nurses (LPN) to transition to the baccalaureate-prepared registered nursing (RN) role through critical analysis of the relationship between leadership, policy advocacy, and membership within the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Students will also examine how nursing theory guides professional practice.

The will includes lectures and workshops on topics such as Graduate Medical Education, Medical Ethics, Medical Jurisprudence, Malpractice: A Physicians Experience, Cultural Competence in Patient Care, End of Life Issues, Breaking Bad News to Patients, Handling Inappropriate Patients, Reviewing Professional Journal Articles & Pertinent Biostatistics, Financial Planning and Investment Professional Liability Insurance, Time Management for Residents and Physician Mental Hygiene.

In this course, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students learn how to bridge the gap between research and real-world practice across a variety of health care settings. Students develop skills to find, evaluate, synthesize, and apply best evidence to enhance nursing care and improve patient outcomes. The course highlights practical strategies for implementing evidence-based changes while exploring the ethical responsibilities of protecting human subjects throughout the process.

This course will discuss the identification, selection and application of current evidence in advanced nursing and healthcare. Various approaches to evidence-based practice are included, emphasizing developing skills in scientific inquiry and critical analysis.

This course provides the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) student with the methodological basis for translating evidence into practice systems in a variety of health care environments. This course is necessary for the student to identify clinical problems, appraise relevant evidence, and develop best practices for application in health care environments.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to evaluate and interpret evidence that supports application in practice. The focus of the course will be on the management and analysis of health care evidence and translation for practice. The emphasis of the course will be on evidence-based practice, safety and quality, informatics, emerging technologies, data management, applied statistics, evaluation and trend analysis.

A practical study in the problems and skills of translation of Russian and English. May be repeated for credit.

An introduction to the basic principles of translation. Exercises will include translation from the basic level (phrases and sentences) to intermediate (paragraphs) and Advanced levels (short stories and other texts).
