Study of countries located in the Eastern Hemisphere including Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Emphasis on the culture, customs, seasonal attractions, climate, physical features, language, currency, and political conditions and how they affect both the business and leisure traveler.

Introduces students to the importance of the travel agent in the hospitality industry and provides an understanding of international, national, state, major cities and their points of interest to the travel customer. Emphasis is placed on career options, industry trends, and travel documents, identifying why people travel and how geography is linked to their needs.

An overview of mid-management responsibilities within the travel and tourism industry. Students will describe the management functions including: analyzing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising tasks of managing a business.

This course mixes the written word with images to tell travel stories to various audiences across various platforms. It teaches students how to craft photo essays that tell a complete story. Travel is required in this class. (formerly PJ 385)
